Take Upscale to a Whole New Level with the 2018 GLS Grand Edition

The Mercedes Benz GLS is a large three-row SUV that’s known for its style and comfort features, but it’s about to get a whole lot better for buyers that want a bit more grandeur. Mercedes is releasing a special edition of the vehicle for 2018 known as the Mercedes Benz GLS Grand Edition.

A Beautiful New Interior Treatment

One of the biggest changes to the Grand Edition of the GLS can be seen on the inside of the vehicle. Instead of the standard seats that you would expect in the vehicle, you’ll be greeted by plush leather-coated seats. Not only are the seats themselves leather coated, but so is the dashboard. Real wood accents are used around the vehicle in areas like on the dash as trim, and the seat leather is enhanced with a quilted pattern. All these enhancements look absolutely stunning thanks to the porcelain and espresso color scheme used throughout the Grand Edition cabin that really gives the image of luxury when you look inside.

Improved Exterior Enhancements

The exterior improvements that come with this kit aren’t quite so extensive. You’ll enjoy the look of a more aggressive front fascia that helps separate this SUV from the others around you without the Grand Edition package. Other than that the SUV will come with 20 inch alloy wheels and that’s it. The outside will mostly look the same whether you get the Grand Edition or not.

Offered on Three Power Variations

If you’re really interested in getting your hands on the Grand Edition of the GLS, it’s offered in three different engine levels. It can be had on the 350d, 400 and 500 engines. Each will be equipped with 4Matic AWD as well for optimal performance overall. The 350d is a turbodiesel variation of the SUV that puts out an excellent 258 HP and 457 lb.-ft. of torque overall. The most powerful option is the GLS 500 and that makes available 456 HP thanks to its 4.7liter V8, as well as an impressive 516 lb.-ft. of torque that’s ideal for towing and other demanding tasks.

The Added Costs Involved

If you decide that you want to get one of these SUVs you’ll have to spend additional money to get your hands on one. It’s expected to cost an additional $7,764 over the standard model for the interior package and an additional $3,000 for the exterior package creating a cost increase of nearly $11,000 versus the standard versions of the GLS that this special model is replacing. To someone looking for the very best luxury features in an over-sized SUV, the GLS Grand Edition will make a lot of sense and the added cost won’t be a big deal.
